Mateo is one of many former foster youth who have lost their lives due to senseless acts of violence. Mateo was murdered at the age of 20. He, like many of his peers, left the foster care system and returned to a rough and difficult lifestyle. He will be forever missed by his families –foster family, DCFS family, and biological family.
